Hurricane Dennis computer model update
Those of you in the Gulf Coast might want to consider clearing your schedules this weekend. If the models do not significantly shift their track by Saturday, I am going to begin urging evacuations of barrier islands and the city of New Orleans. For now, people should begin planning where they will go in case of a major hurricane in the area. Remember, we all learned last year in Charley and Ivan, hurricanes can make sudden changes in intensity and track right before landfall. Remember Charley's last minute major strengthening and Ivan's last minute dodging of every island in the Caribbean. Click the image below for the landfall forecast from the latest model run of the GFS (Global Forecast System), our main forecast model.
